Hence the 4****Rating I liked the book but didn’t love it and I can’t put to much up here as I don’t want to give any spoilers out, I sort of guessed who the bad guy was about 1/3rd the way through. I loved Jake and Ellie.
I like a book when it takes you by surprise and is something completely different than everything else out there. Ellie has a great life. Wonderful home life. Happily married. Great friends. Thriving business. Supportive family. She has it all. Till one day she starts to receive anonymous texts. Gradually the texts get more threatening and lives become endangered. Spread over months her anxiety and paranoia begin to spiral. Having no clue who it could be she looks into her past. Is it someone she knows? An ex perhaps? She doesn’t know but she gets the feeling she’s being watched. The texts confirm her worst fears. Her life is spiraling out of control all because of anonymous.
I absolutely liked this book! because its so refreshing not to read the same old boy meets girl stuff. From quite early on you cannot understand the restraint I had to have not looked at the ending!! It virtually killed me not to find out who anonymous was!! My finger kept lingering over the skip pages bar at the bottom! Was it her adoring husband? Was it the creepy boss? Was it her best friend? Was it a crazy ex boyfriend? Was it her best friends ex? ahhhhhhhh it gripped me so bad!! At one point I’ve gotta be honest it could have been anyone!! lol
I liked the build up and I read it straight through. I wasn’t consumed by it though I could put it down but because the weather isn’t to good today it’s been a reading day, not sure I would have stuck it out, I am glad I did so there is that, it’s like a classic who done it with Twists and turns aplenty that’s what made me stick it out and made me like it, wit. LP Dover is awesome at this kind of story. I do love her books normally ,She keeps you there in the story still you suspect it could be any one of the characters in the story. I like her writing style. There is Plenty of love between Ellie and Jake if that’s what you like in a book but that’s not what this book is about. The scenes that were in where nicely done hot with out been porn, Its the story I liked.
Good plot, superbly written, gripping suspense. A 4**** recommend!
